A little bit of everything in my life!

Category Archives: books

I was very excited when the lovely Beaut.ie ladies announced that Aisling’s second book, Gorgeous To Go would be released in October however, I got EXTREMELY excited when the date of the launch was given as this Saturday, 8th October – I hitting the big smoke that morning along with my buddy J for a weekend of shopping, socialising and a small bit education (more on that at a later date).

Beaut.ie has been one of my favourite beauty blogs for a number of years now – in fact, the ladies recently celebrated the blogs 5th birthday. As you may guess from previous posts, I love to support Irish and this is one “product” not to be missed. The blog is jam packed with honest product reviews, previews and trends.

The first book, The Beaut.ie Guide to Gorgeous is firmly fixed to my beside table so needless to say, I cannot wait to get my paws on the latest book by Beaut.ie blogging sister, Aisling.

You too can attend the event at 2pm in Brown Thomas by emailing info@beaut.ie – hope to see you all there 🙂

The latest book in the Beauty Bible series “The Anti Ageing Beauty Bible” which was launched in March of this year by authors Sarah Stacey and Jo Fairley is available today on Eason Offers for the bargain price of €7.99, a saving of €17.00 apparently.

Here’s some of what Eason’s have to say about it:

This title contains chapters that include guidance on skin, hair, make-up, hands, feet and nails, sleep, exercise and much more. There are top tips for taking off ten years in minutes as well as the secrets of inspirational older women. And of course Jo and Sarah’s trademark ‘tried and tested’ reports on scores of health and beauty products – reliably tested by over 2,400 women. Packed with insider info from the world’s leading experts, this is the bible for the older woman, showing you how to look, feel and be fabulous forever.

Hurray, there are only 100 copies available at this price – click here to read more and pick up your copy.

I’ve made one purchase from Eason Offers a few weeks ago, a Disney book for my godson which was delivered by DHL less than a week later. I’ll definitely be picking up this one too.

Two weeks ago I ordered 3 books from Book Depository – they were offering  a 10% discount on their already low prices as well as free delivery so how could a girl resist?!

All 3 books were delivered separately but arrived within a week – the first book is “Beautiful” by the amazingly brave, Katie Piper. I’ve watched a number of documentaries featuring Katie and really admire her courage and determination so am looking forward to reading her book.
The other 2 books are both make up related namely, “Make-Up Masterclass” by Jemma Kidd and “Makeup: The Ultimate Guide” by Rae Morris. Both books are well structured and similar in their layout – they begin by discussing the basic kit and tools and then move onto tutorials to achieve different looks.
Jemma Kidd goes into more detail about skincare, skin tone and tips for ladies of all ages. While she does promote her own products, she also recommends many other brands.
Both books are suitable for beginners and professionals alike however, I think Make-Up Masterclass is better value for money and would make a great present for any make up enthusiast.
